Avocado Smoothie

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1-2 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup creamer (almond milk, soy milk etc)
  • 1/4 cup boba pearls
  • 1 cup freshly brewed green tea
  • Few ice cubes

How to Make Avocado Smoothie

Step 1

We know you’re excited let’s quickly get started! Grab your favorite pot (something of this size will work just fine) and fill it with water and have it reach a rumbling boil. Once it is at a rumbling boil, bring the heat down a notch and add in your fresh green tea leaves and let it steep for 6-8 minutes. If you want a highly recommended bag of fresh and premium green tea leaves, try this one from Stash Tea. 

At the same time, we’ll have a separate pot of water at a rumbling boil as well but for our tapioca pearls. If you purchased your tapioca pearls from your local Asian market, be sure to follow the instructions on the back of the packaging. It typically takes 15-20 minutes to get the right texture for your tapioca pearls. 

Step 2

While we finish brewing the fresh green tea and cooking up the tapioca pearls until soft, we’ll prepare the rest of the ingredients starting with the fresh ripe avocado. With your favorite kitchen knife (make sure it’s sharp) half your avocado and remove the seed. 

With your halved avocado we’ll add this into a blender or food processor. Any blender or even a Nutri Bullet like this that you’ve most likely seen on TV will work just fine. We’ll also include our 1/2 cup creamer (we like using soy milk but any creamer works well). And lastly the few ice cubes and 1-2 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk we mentioned above. Now set this mixture aside for now.

Step 3

By now your green tea should be finished brewing and your tapioca pearls should be completely cooked with the right soft texture.

Tip: Take a bite of the tapioca pearls and determine whether it is the right texture, if not, cook it a bit more. If the texture is very close, give it another 1-3 minutes on the heat. The timer on your phone will help a lot for this process, or you can actually buy a handy kitchen timer like this. 

Once everything is brewed and cooked to your liking be sure these two items are cooled to room temperature before adding into the blender. Once cooled, add the remaining ingredients (brewed green tea) into your blender. Begin pulsating or blending the avocado smoothie mixture until you have a smooth puree or smoothie like texture. It shouldn’t appear too runny nor should it be too thick, the right balance is key! 

Last but not least, grab your favorite boba cup and add 1/4 cup of tapioca pearls into it. Pour the remainder of the avocado blend into your cup and top it off with a boba straw and enjoy!
