How to Make Whipped Coffee With Boba Pearls
Step 1
Making whipped coffee or Dalgona coffee is very easy. There aren’t a lot of ingredients that you’ll need, many of the ingredients you already have in your home too.
Start by grabbing a big bowl we’ll use this to mix everything together. Something like this glass bowl from OXO will work just fine. Using the measurements above, add your coffee, hot water, and sugar into the bowl.
Now start mixing!
Step 2
For faster results, begin mixing with a handheld whisk or electric whisk. We’d recommend using the electric whisk like this from Bonsen unless you want a forearm workout. No seriously. We first tried making this with a handheld whisk and we must be honest, it was quite tiring haha.
There’s no right or wrong in how long you whisk up the mixture. The ultimate goal here is that we want our whipped coffee to be extra fluffy. Fluffy enough so that it sits nicely on top of our preferred dairy or creamer when we serve.
Step 3
Once you’re done whisking up your fluffy whipped coffee you can set it aside. We have to begin cooking the tapioca pearls now.
There are two ways we can go about making some tapioca pearls— from scratch or from store bought tapioca pearls. We’ll go with the store bought tapioca pearls here that cook in less than 5 minutes to make everything easier. Here is the brand of tapioca pearls that cook in less than 5 minutes that we will be using.
If you want to learn how to make tapioca pearls from scratch you can learn how to do that here.
When you have your tapioca pearls simply follow the directions on the package. Grab one of your handy pots and fill it up with some water, enough so that the tapioca pearls can be submerged in this. Bring the water to a boil and then add your tapioca pearls to the rumbling boil. After a few minutes you should see the boba pearls float to the top. Once they float to the surface we’d recommend testing 1 to see if the texture is how you like it.
Once you’re okay with the texture, the boba pearls are done.
If you want to spice up your boba pearls a bit, you can add them in a bath of brown sugar syrup for 5-10 minutes. This will give your boba pearls a malty delicious flavor profile. You can learn how to make brown sugar syrup from scratch in our article here.
Step 4
Once your coffee is whipped and fluffy and your tapioca pearls are cooked nicely, we can begin adding everything all together.
Grab a tall glass that is bigger than a regular 8oz cup. The ice and boba pearls we add will require more volume.
Start with adding your boba pearls first on the bottom. If you soaked your boba pearls with brown sugar syrup you can paint your glasses with those iconic tiger stripes that you see in typical tiger milk tea or brown sugar milk tea. This will make your drink stand out even more than it already has on social media.
Next, add your ice so that it fills about half your cup.
Now grab your preferred dairy or creamer and pour in ¾ cup into your tall glass. We like to use oat milk here but you’re free to use what you like. Here are 6 dairy or creamers that you can try using with this recipe.
Lastly, add your dalgona coffee or whipped coffee on top of the milk. Record your video or take a snapshot of your hard work, share it with your friends, and enjoy the tasty whipped coffee. And don’t forget your boba straws so you can suck up those tapioca pearls! Enjoy.
Bonus: Whip cream on top is also delicious!

Awesome. I can do it through your guide. It’s awesome, it’s that easy. In your opinion, which step is the most important?
Whipping the foam will be the most important. It’s important to have the right texture!
