Is Drinking Black Tea Good for You?

Absolutely!

Drinking black tea is good for you.

In fact, drinking black tea has many health benefits that you might not be aware of. Black tea has health benefits like boosting your immune system and may improve digestive functionality and health.

If you’re like us, we enjoy having a healthy gut in order to continue drinking our favorite boba or bubble teas.

Plus, black tea is delicious and will not give you a caffeine crash like coffee might. The lower caffeine amount in black tea (compared to coffee) combined with the slow absorption of caffeine keeps you alert for a longer time period.

Having higher energy levels for a prolonged time period can mean more productivity. In other words, getting more done!

Drinking Black Tea May Improve Your Immune System

Black tea leaves come from the Camellia Sinensis plant, which contain things called tannins.

Tannins are essentially plant compounds found in tea leaves that can help boost your immune system. Which may aid in fighting different viruses or daily sicknesses. So if you regularly drink a hot cup of black tea (or bubble tea) you might just be boosting your immune system daily.

Tannins can also be found in dark chocolates, wine, and coffee.

Fun fact: Tannins contribute to the bitterness of dark chocolates, wine, coffee, and tea that you’re familiar with.

Black Tea May Improve Gut Health

Why is gut health important? Gut health and functionality is essentially what allows us to absorb the nutrients from the foods we eat. Without a healthy gut, our body will have trouble breaking down vital nutrients for our body.

Without a healthy gut, you might not be able to drink bubble tea as much as you’d like!

Black Tea has natural compounds called polyphenols in it that aid in having a healthy gut. You can find polyphenols in other foods like red wine, chocolate, apples, etc.

Drinking Black Tea Boosts Your Energy Levels

We all know that black tea contains some amount of caffeine in it. Generally you’ll find about half as much caffeine in tea than coffee.

There are a lot of people (including us) that enjoy the boost of energy that come from drinking black tea. Like we mentioned earlier, tea in general may not give you a caffeine crash.

Caffeine in tea tends to be absorbed slower than caffeine found in coffee. What does this mean? Essentially your energy levels will slowly increase and you’ll become more alert over a prolonged period of time.

We don’t know about you but we believe a longer period of high energy allows us to be more creative and productive.

Whereas with coffee, you may find yourself with a jolt of energy but quickly lose it shortly after.

So without question, drinking black tea is good for you. With the few health benefits that we mentioned and the boost of energy levels, we hope you find yourself drinking more black tea. And maybe a cup of bubble tea while you’re at it.

Here are a few different milk tea recipes that use black tea to try at home.
